Washington Updates: A US newspaper published an article about talk of US and Taliban which is write that is not a success of US after 10 years fighting, E Pakistan News reported on Saturday.

According to an article posted on Wall Street Journal’s, dialogues with Taliban after more than 10 years of fighting mean giving legitimacy and space to militant extremism.

It said that the objective of Nato’s post-9/11 intervention in Afghanistan was to starve militant extremism by defeating the nexus of al Qaeda and Taliban.

The US military surge in 2010 weakened the Taliban but latter managed to protract the fighting due to the deadlock between Pakistan and Nato after Salala checkpost attacks.

The Taliban has already gained certain advantages, including the possible transfer or release of their commanders from US custody, the opening of an office in Qatar, and the legitimacy to enter into mainstream politics at the time of their choosing.

They will definitely use these preliminary gains to further their psychological influence over the Afghan populace.

The article questioned representation of Afghan President Hamid Karzai as US bypassed Afghan government while negotiating with the Taliban in Qatar.
