ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday held an important meeting at the Presidency to review the situation which has emerged after the Supreme Court issued a “restraining order” in the restoration of judges’ notification case.
Official sources said the two leaders termed the news of fresh government-judiciary confrontation as a baseless propaganda done by a section of TV channels and reiterated that the government respects the judiciary.
They vowed that the government would hold an inquiry to unveil faces behind what they called ‘fake and provocative’ news item.
There were reports that Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani also joined them in the meeting.
However, presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar denied the reports, saying the army chief did not attend the meeting.
