ISLAMABAD: Police arrested four people and recovered two vehicles and a large quantity of Nato equipment during a raid at a godown here on Friday night.
The vehicles, helicopter wings, rotors, wireless sets, speakers, mounts, motors, books, floppy discs, a heavy-duty generator, plastic boxes and sheets and steel pipes were found at the godown located in Dhok Paracha area of Tarnol.
The raid was conducted on information provided by a man picked up by police who found him in possession of two rotors. The man informed the interrogators that he had bought the rotors from the godown. A heavy contingent of police took part in the raid.
A senior police officer confirmed the recovery and arrests. He told Dawn that no arms or explosives were found in the godown, adding that an inventory of the seized items was being made.
The officer said there was a possibility that the recovered items were those which either disappeared or were stolen from trucks carrying Nato supplies during transit. “There is also a possibility that drivers of the trucks unloaded these items in the godown,” he added.
