NEW YORK (Reuters) – Dow average briefly rose more than 1 percent on Monday after upbeat data factory in China and an agreement on global banking rules that give borrowers more time before they need to raise additional capital.
The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) was up 99.75 points, or 0.95 percent, at 10,562.52. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (.SPX) was up 13.60 points, or 1.23 percent, at 1,123.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) was up 35.95 points, or 1.60 percent, at 2,278.43.
