KPK to hold LG polls in May: Khattak

Pakistan News : Khyber Pakhtukhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Sunday announced that local government elections would be conducted in May this year.

This he said while speaking to a delegation of Kohistan at Chief Minister Secretariat in Peshawar.

He said that local governments would be fully empowered to deal with their all administrative and financial matters. The local governments, he said, would address people’s issues at grassroots level.

“We will provide 30 percent additional resources to local governments and every district will get additional Rs300 to Rs400 million for development projects,” he said.

He explained that PTI government had spent the first year on introducing comprehensive legislation and policy-making. “Everybody, including the chief minister, is equal before law in our government.”

He assured the delegation that areas affected by Bhasha Dam would be fully rehabilitated.
