No chance of changing national discourse on terrorism

Pakistan News : Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid Friday ruled out any chance of change of national discourse on terrorism unanimously adopted by all political parties.

Speaking as chief guest at a SAFMA seminar titled “Will Pakistan change in the aftermath of Peshawar massacre?” here he said
that there was no question of change in the national discourse as it was need of the country. He said that Pakistan has adopted the policy of cooperation rather than confrontation with the world both at regional and global level.

He said that as a country,we will have to decide whether we want to follow the path of regional economic power like China and emerging economy of India or destroy our economy by following the confrontational policies, a legacy of the past.

Prosperity of Pakistan was linked to following the path of cooperation with the world as no nation can live in isolation. He said that time has come to have good relations with all neighbouring countries as it was in national interest.

He said that after coming to power,the PML-N government started trying to engage Afghan government and ended the atmosphere of mistrust. After Afghan presidential elections,the government succeeded to bridge the differences with Kabul,he added.

Pervaiz Rashid reminded the audience that Pakistan before 1977, used to be a tolerant and pluralist society where during Muharram and Eid Milad procession people belonging to various sects used to facilitate each other.

While replying questions from the audience,he said that Punjab government took control of schools and dispensaries held by banned organisations so that the people of the respective areas are not deprived of health and education facilities.

About Lal Masjid former Khatib,he said that FIR has been registered against him and law would take its course and violators of law would be brought to book, but the government has set its priorities and was following them.

Later talking to media persons,he said that government with the help of all stakeholders would make Pakistan safe and secure country where all would feel safe and children,parents and teachers would take a sigh of relief.

About the Competition Commission of Pakistan raids on the offices of PBA,he said that CCP was an independent body and the government has nothing to do with these raids.

To a question about PTI chairman Imran Khan’s marriage, he prayed that Allah Almighty give him nuptial bliss.He said that the government would give him Judicial Commission to probe alleged rigging in elections as wedding gift. – APP
