Karachi, Four of a family found strangled

Karachi newsKARACHI: A man, his wife, son and daughter were found dead in their Clifton apartment on Wednesday night.

Police said the four had been poisoned and strangled at least six hours before their bodies were found.

“The bodies of Khalid Haroon and his wife Anila Khalid, in their early 50s, and their daughter Ammara Mariam and son Danish Shiraz, in their mid-20s, were found in the ground-floor flat of Chapel Luxury Apartments near the Abdullah Shah Ghazi mausoleum,” Clifton SP Tariq Dharejo said.

He said Khalid’s son-in-law had complained to police that no-one in the family was attending calls on cellphones and landline. He said he was alarmed when the apartment’s door was not opened despite repeated knocks.

“Boat Basin police broke into the house and found the bodies in different rooms.”

The bodies were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where initial examination suggested that they had been poisoned and later strangulated.

“There were marks of strangulation on the necks of the victims,” a hospital official said.

Police said Khalid who ran a small business had rented the apartment four months ago.

“We are contacting friends and relatives of the victims to find a clue to the incident,” the SP said.
