Pakistan News : Banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has declared a one-month ceasefire, a spokesman said on Saturday.
In a statement, TTP spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid confirmed that Taliban’s groups will stop hostilities for one month.
In the larger interests of Islam and Pakistan, and at the appeal of religious scholars, TTP has declared the ceasefire, he said.
“The government has given a positive response to our suggestions. We have been assured that these suggestions will be implemented,” he said.
Shahid said TTP’s central shura has endorsed the decision to cease fire.
“We have directed out affiliated groups to comply with the decision and refrain from carrying out any kind of jihadi activity during this period,” he said.
“We hope the government would seriously consider our decision and make a progress by setting aside politics.
