No directive received to ban social media sites

Chaudhry Nisar

Pakistan News : PTA Officials told that they don’t receive any directive from Interior Ministry to place a ban on Skype, WhatsApp and Tango in Sindh.

Officials say that social sites of public interest are not being blocked by the regulatory authority.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has also made it clear that he has no intention to ban social media. The interior ministry would reply to a Sindh government’s request in this regard in a few days, he added.

Last week, Sindh government wrote a letter to the interior ministry, seeking ban on Skype, Viber, WhatsApp and other communication networks, arguing that terrorists and other criminals were using internet telephony and messaging services to communicate with each other.
