IMF on Thursday raised flood aid to Pakistan

Pakistan FloodsIMF,  The World Bank on Thursday raised flood aid to Pakistan for one billion dollars while the IMF has approved $ 450 million in emergency funds to help the nation from its history, the worst humanitarian disaster.

The World Bank to increase their support by flooding during the current year to one billion dollars from 900 million dollars,said Bank President Robert Zoellick, the Pakistan Finance Minister Hafeez Shaikh, said in a statement.

IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, announced separately that the funds will provide about $ 450 million in emergency funds immediately to Pakistan to help manage the aftermath of the devastating flood and massive.

Previous Flooding without enveloped an area the size of England, affecting more than 18 million people, eight million people rely on relief assistance for survival.

The magnitude of the disaster is so great that a month after the flood, many people complain of being without food or water for days.-AFP
