ECP orders NADRA to develop fingerprint verification software


Pakistan, Islamabad News : Secretary Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmed said Monday the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had ordered the National Database Management Authority (NADRA) to develop software for fingerprint verification as soon as possible.

While speaking to the media, Secretary Election Commission further said that election tribunals have been formed in each province, adding that NADRA will conduct fingerprint verification of votes wherever the tribunals order for verification.

Meanwhile Chairman NADRA, Tariq Malik said it will take two weeks to develop the fingerprint verification software, adding that a summary of the software and hardware cost has been sent to the caretaker government.

The NADRA chairman further said that the new software will be developed in integration with the Civil Fingerprint Automated Identification System and will be upgraded to verify at least 500,000 finger prints per day.
