SC issues more time to NAB in RPPs case

NAB News

Pakistan, Islamabad News – The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed more time to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to further carry out investigation into Rental Power Plants (RPPs) case.

The court gave 4 weeks time for completing investigations in the RPP case on the request of K.K Agha, the prosecutor general NAB.

A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmad and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, resumed the hearing of RPP implementation case.

During the course of proceeding, KK Agha submitted 12 individual progress reports of the investigation by NAB and requested the Bench to keep these reports confidential which was accepted by the court.

He further apprised the court that the NAB has completed investigation in almost all of the cases except one or two.

The chief justice rejected the request of granting six months time for the completion of investigation and stated that the case was under hearing from the last almost one year and the court could not give six more months.

Agha expressed the commitment that the NAB would frame charges against all accused and would present soon before the apex court.

The CJ, while admiring the Chairman NAB’s performance, stated that court would certainly accommodate him.

He further said that the court was not going to dispose of this case as so many important things were mentioned in the judgment.

Later, the bench adjourned the matter till May 27 allowing NAB for further investigation in the case and directed the bureau to submit summary of progress in each case. Agencies
