Pakistan, Islamabad News – The Supreme Court on Monday issued fresh notices to all parties in the multi-billion rupees Bank of Punjab (BoP) scam and adjourned hearing till first week of April.
A three-judge bench, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, resumed hearing in the case and re-issued notices to all the parties.
During the course of proceeding, the chief justice came down hard on the counsel for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for the bureau’s alleged action of constituting a forum.
The CJ stated that the NAB should not let down the institutions by its acts, giving example of a forum comprising two retired judges and called it “privy council.”
Terming the action as “supra judicial forum,” he said the courts would continue their work even if no one was ready to present himself before the court.
However, the court did not go in the details and adjourned the hearing till first week of April while fresh notices were also issued to all the concerned parties in the scam. Agencies
