Critics of Metro Bus could not prove allegations

Pakistan, Lahore News – Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said critics of the Metro Bus System could not produce even a single documentary proof regarding their allegation of corruption in the project.

He termed Ahad Khan Cheema, Director General Lahore Development Authority, a hero of the Metro Bus project and pointed out that Transparency International also awarded the LDA DG the highest medal because the project, worth Rs 30 billion, had been executed in a transparent manner.

The chief minister expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the newly constructed Sport Complex in Johar Town here on Friday.

He added that completion of the Sports Complex was another feather in his cap and he deserved full marks for providing sports facilities to the youth of the city.

Earlier, the chief minister had a round of the Sports Complex and inspected facilities that had been provided there.

Ahad Khan Cheema told CM Sharif that this Sports Complex had been constructed on a 32 kanal piece of land worth Rs 600 million. The infrastructure had been constructed at a cost of Rs 400 million. Hence the total worth of this facility was Rs one billion.

He informed that two separate swimming pools, two gymnasium and two tennis courts, one each for man and women, had been set up in the complex.

Basket ball court, jogging track, squash court, table tennis hall, badminton court and snooker hall had also been established in the sports complex besides making adequate arrangements for security and provision of other facilities like cafeteria and dining hall. Agencies
