Christian colony victims to be paid Rs 500,000

Pakistan, Lahore News – During a telephone conversation between President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf it was decided that Rs 500,000 would be paid as compensation to the affectees of Joseph Colony whose homes were destroyed. 

In other developments, Governor Punjab Makhdoom Ahmed Mehomood has sent the initial report of the Joseph Colony incident to President Zaradri. The president has directed the governor to provide all necessary facilities to the affectees of Joseph Colony and has also summoned him to Karachi.

On March 9 over 100 homes of the Christian community were ransacked and burnt by an angry mob after a resident of the locality was accused of blasphemy.
