Snowfall set new record in Pakistan, 41 died

Pakistan, Peshawar News : This year winter in Pakistan set the new record and broke the 30 year record and death toll due to snowfall increased to 41, rains also started in Pakistan.

The snowfall paralyzed life in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit, Chitral, Swat, Dir, Malakand, Skardu and Kashmir, disconnecting road links with the upper parts. Thousands of people remained inside their homes for the last few days amid shortage of edible items, medical facilities and lack of inappropriate rain management measures.

The Metrological Department has forecast that the wet spell will prevail for next couple of days.

Some 37 people were reported killed across the country. Electrocution, landslides and cave-ins of mud-houses and rooftops are the major causes of these deaths.
