Pakistan, Lahore News : Today Minhaj Ul Quran Chief held a public meeting in Lahore where Thousands of people of Tehreek-e-Minhaj-ul-Quran (TMQ) gathered on Sunday, E Pakistan News Reported.
Dr. Qadri returned to Pakistan on Friday, ending a four-year, self-imposed exile in Canada.
The religious leader, who was elected MNA from Lahore in 2002, is of the view that elections are not solution to the problems of Pakistan.
He has called on his followers to “save the state, not politics,” setting off speculations about a possible delay in upcoming general elections.
Qadri, who also leads a political party – the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), – issued a fatwa in 2010 against the Taliban and against suicide attacks in Pakistan and received death threats in response.
On Sunday, thousands of people reached vast ground of Minar-e-Pakistan for participation in the grand public reception, carrying portraits of Qadri and Pakistani flags in their hands.
The caravans of participants from Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala Divisions, Sheikhpura, Kasur, Pattoki, and other adjoining cities arrived at the main venue.
