SC Issues Contempt of Court Orders to Altaf Hussain

Pakistan, Islamabad News : Supreme Court of Pakistan asked the MQM Chief to personally appear before the court on 7th January in Contempt of Court Case, E Pakistan News Reported.

The bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Choudhary, asked MQM chief to explain his position with regard to his recent speech.

Chief Justice Choudhary declares that words used by Altaf Hussain were not only ‘insulting’ but were ‘threatening’ as well. The court asked PEMRA to submit full text of the speech.

The bench said that such words tantamount to create hurdles in the smooth functioning of the Supreme Court.

The court also issued notices to the foreign ministry, MQM leader Farooq Sattar, chief secretary and IG Sindh Police.

It may be pointed out that the bench issued contempt notice to MQM chief on a note submitted by the registrar of the Supreme Court in which the registrar urged the court to take notice of the speech.

In hearing it is stated that the Chief Justice observed that Supreme Court’s decision on the Karachi unrest case was not implemented. The current bench was constituted to implement the verdict, he added.
