Pakistan News / Power Crises in Pakistan > According to a report issued by NEPRA, the electricity shortage in the country will continue till 2020.
The report stated that under the present scenario there was no solution to the power crisis in the country. Thousands of workers have become unemployed due to the prevalent shortfall, the report said.
At present 14,000 MW are being produced in Pakistan and demand stands at 23,000 MW.
The report indicated that forty percent of electricity was lost in line loses and due to theft.
NEPRA has also increased the per unit price of electricity by Rs0.04, however this will not be applicable on users in Karachi.
