Karachi Street Crime Rate is Increasing Day by Day

Pakistan News / Karachi Updates > Sources told that Street crime rate is rising day by day in Karachi – which can be gauged by the fact that 19,635 motorbikes were snatched or stolen in the poor in the past eleven months, E Pakistan News reported.

According to the data compiled by the police and CPLC, eastern district of the city was worst affected by the menace of street crimes. According to further break-up, Shara-e-Faisal police station was at the top as it recorded 635 cases of motorbike theft or snatching followed by Preedy police station with 631 cases and Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station registered 547 such cases.

In July, 2121 such cases were registered followed by 2085 cases in October and 2021 cases in August.

Overall cases motorbike theft in the first eleven months of 2012 have already surpassed 2011 figures of 18,906 while recovery of stolen motorbikes is negligible. So far this year, only 2,000 motorbikes were recovered by the police while last year this figure was 2008.
