Pakistan News / Malala Yousafzai News > So deeply moved is Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon by the plight of girls’ education activist Malala Yousufzai, who lies critically injured in a Rawalpindi hospital, that he has written a personal letter to her parents wishing their brave daughter speedy recovery.
The UN chief handed over his letter to Pakistan’s new UN Ambassador Masood Khan after he presented his credentials to him at UN Headquarters in New York on Friday, officials said.
The letter will be sent to the Foreign Office in Islamabad to be delivered to Malala’s parents.
“Malala is a role model not only for your country, but for our world”, the Secretary-General said of Malala, adding that education is a fundamental right for all.
Soon after Malala was shot by a Taliban gunman, Ban issued strongly worded statement condemning the “heinous and cowardly” attack. AGENCIES
