Govt being entangled in non-issues: Babar Awan
LAHORE: PPP leader and former Law Minister Dr Babar Awan said on Friday that PPP government was being entangled in non-issues like Memo issue due to which the country was facing difficulties in doing development work.
Talking to media at GPO Chowk, he held the Punjab government responsible for it, adding that there was no sign of governance in Punjab which forms 62 percent of the country.
Dr Babar said that other provincial governments were focusing on problems of the masses despite the differences but the attitude of Punjab government was absolutely different.
He said that Nawaz Sharif expressed no-confidence on parliament by filing petition on memo issue.
He said that the Punjab government was holding “Patwaris shows” using government resources for public gatherings instead of focusing on public issues.
To a question on memo issue, Dr Awan said that he had not yet seen court verdict and comment could be made only after going through it.
There was opportunity of review on the Supreme Court’s verdict according to section 88 of the constitution, he added.
He said that the memo was written by a foreigner and it should not be named as memogate which was not related to the government.
He said that there was no confrontation between the PPP government and the institutions.
Earlier, Pakistan Bar Council’s member Ramzan Chaudhry and PLF leaders including Malik Mushtaq Awan, Asid Bhatti and others accorded a warm welcome to Dr Babar Awan on his arrival at GPO Chowk.
