GHOTKI: Shah Mehmood Qureshi Join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday November 27, 2011.
Addressing thousands of supporters and followers in Sindh’s city of Ghotki, Qureshi said he is joining the Tehrik-e-Insaf being led by cricketer-turned- politician Imran Khan.
He said time has come to go to public and hold fresh general elections. The Nation Assembly, he said, is not functioning according to aspirations of people.
“It is time for this government to go,” he said.
Qureshi said he stepped down as the country’s foreign minister in a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Raymond Davis issue.
The foreign minister said Pakistan’s nuclear program is not safe in the presence of Asif Ali Zardari. He said he would reveal more about nuclear program in PTI’s next public meeting in Karachi.
Earlier, addressing the same gathering, Imran Khan invited the former foreign minister to join his Tehrik-e-Insaf (Movement for Justice).
Commenting on Mohmand Agency incident, he urged the government to pull out of US-led war on terror.
The PTI leader said Qureshi’s entry into his party will be useful for the country.
