Pakistan News / Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Aashiq Awan has said that building of Diamer-Bhasha Dam will bring speedy progress and affluence for the people of country.
She congratulated the people on initiating the project of Diamer-Bhasha Dam and said the mega project would address energy problems, besides irrigate a vast area of land in the country.
The minister said that the Diamer-Bhasha Dam would generate adequate power for next 20 years.
She answering a question; she said that the dam would assist the efforts to eradicate poverty from the region.
The Information Minister said the government had removed all the hurdles that had stood in the way of building Diamer-Bhasha Dam.
Dr. Firdous said adequate compensation would be paid to the owners whose land had been taken over for the project.
She added that plots would also be allotted to the people affected by the project in the model villages to be established soon.
Replying to a question, she said that this project was initiated after the consultation of all the political parties.
She thanked the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and other international donors for assuring to assist in building the mega project.
She praised the efforts of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) for working hard to prepare a feasibility report on the project.
