Waqar Younis Resigns as Pakistan Coach

Latest News / Sports – Pakistan Cricket Coach Waqar Younis resigned due to personal reasons on Yesterday, Reported on Sunday August 21, 2011.


Waqar Younis Resigns as Pakistan CoachWaqar Younis 39 year’s old former fast bowler joined as a coach in March 2010. He faced disagreement like a Spot Fixing scandal which was three players got banned and difference with former ODI captain Shahid Afridi.


He told that he submitted his resignation to the PCB last week and also informed that Zimbabwe tour is last tour.


He told that he take decision on personal reasons he has no differences with anyone in the board or National Squad.


In upcoming tour that was started from 28 august; Pakistan will be play one practice match, one test match, three ODI and two T20 matches against Zimbabwe.


Waqar Younis and Former Captain Shahid Afridi have differences during the tour of West Indies; Pakistan Cricket Manager Intkhab Alam blamed the both of them that they have created many problems in the national cricket team.


Shahid Afridi retired from national team due to some differences between Chairman PCB and Coach Waqar Younis.


He was also unhappy with the chief selector Mohsin Khan; but Waqar said he had no objection with anyone.


He said he had his personal life, wife’s health and personal health. He want to give time to his family.


His first two Test series as coach against Australia and England both was played in England since last year; he saw Test captain Salman Butt and key pace-men Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir immovable up in the spot-fixing scandal.


Waqar told that National Team players had been upset by his decision to resign.


Waqar told the national players on Saturday, and they were shocked because they have not know about the issue was between Waqar and the Pakistan Cricket Board, but I am sure that this young team will do well in future,”.


PCB Spokesman Nadeem Sarwar told the Media, that Pakistan Cricket Board – PCB has approved his resign and be aware of his personal reasons.


Waqar’s resign is the latest pain to hit the concerned Pakistan national team, which will have to find another appropriate coach before their October – November series against Sri Lanka.
