IRAQ NEWS / KIRKUK: Fifteen people were hurt by a car bomb attack a Syrian Orthodox Church in Kirkuk in northern Iraq on Tuesday August 2, 2011 told a police officials.
The bomb blast at the Holy Family Church in the north of Kirkuk at about 5:30 am, injured 15 people including Church staff Members and people in neighboring houses.
Police officials, who spoke on condition of inscrutability, added that 30 homes in the area were damaged by blast.
Imad Hanna, a priest, said it was the first time the Church had been targeted in this area.
“Women, children and Men from this neighborhood were hurt in the car bomb attack,” he said, added that two of the wounded were in serious condition.
The bodies of the injured persons were shifted to Kirkuk General and Azadi hospitals for further treatment.
Church was damaged by bomb attack and some cars in the area were also destroyed told the source.
Security Officials covered the area of the incident and start the collecting the information of the blast.
