Pakistan News: US national Raymond Davis, who shot two persons to death in Lahore on Thursday, does not enjoy diplomatic immunity as he entered the country on business visa, Punjab’s Deputy Prosecutor General Rana Bakhtiar said on Sunday.
Speaking to newsmen in Lahore, Bakhtiar said, “Only diplomats enjoy immunity during their service under the Vienna Convention. Davis cannot claim any such protection due to his business visa.”
He also rejected the arguments of acting in self-defense, saying the victims had been shot in their backs. This proves that Davis was not attacked.
About the death of the third person in hit-and-run case, he said that a written request has been made to the US consulate, seeking custody of the suspect.
