Rangers Works on Sindh Govt Order

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Saturday that the Rangers were empowered to fight against criminal elements in a request from the Government of Sindh.

Qamar Zaman KairaSpeaking to reporters after a meeting of the National Assembly `s Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, said the government was concerned about the situation in Karachi and efforts were made to bring peace to the city .

Mr. Kaira said that no operation was launched and the curfew was not difficult in a part of the city.

He said the government should continue its efforts on the basis of information in real time until the arrest of elements of targeted killings.

He said the recent action Orangi town was in law enforcement in that context.

He said the case was against the anti-social and land grabbers.

The Minister said the Interior Minister, Sindh Chief Minister and Minister of the Interior has worked in harmony.

Mr Kaira said the consultation undertaken in relation to the formulation of the Freedom of Information Amendment Bill 2002, and the provinces, except Punjab, had made a contribution.

He said the issue of Nabeel Gabol `s resignation had been solved” in the family “by the Prime Minister and the reserves would be eliminated.

Speaking at the committee meeting, said that the distance of 18 changes, the draft law on freedom of expression should be renamed as the right to information Bill.

He said the department had three weeks to finalize the bill.
