ISLAMABAD: Information Technology (IT) is an area that can offer great opportunities for the creation of many jobs and improving the economy, the government should pay special attention to promoting and exploiting the potential of IT sector.
Mahfooz Elahi, Chairman, Islamabad Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in a meeting of ICCI said that the country faces a number of challenges to its economic recovery, with other initiatives, industry, it has grown in technological development, generate income, reduce unemployment and poverty.
He said it was a healthy sign that the IT sector in the country have shown a marked improvement and its location has increased to 56 from 73 th: e last year. There are many more wanted to exploit the full potential of this sector.
Elahi was of the opinion that by pressing the full potential of TI Pakistan can also capture a significant share in the global IT market and strengthen its export.
He said that the United States, Canada, Middle East, Malaysia, Britain and other countries have outsourced many of the functions of their business as companies specializing in reducing costs and providing cost-effective services. Pakistan can take advantage of the opportunities for outsourcing, he added.
He said the modern world scale economies also rely heavily on their use can improve the performance of most sectors of the economy by improving business processes, reduce costs and increase productivity, and stressed that Pakistan should also reflect on these lines.
ICCI President said the inadequate legal framework has been the main obstacle to good growth in this sector, along with issues of infrastructure and finance and has urged the government to answer these questions take precedence full advantage of a growing sector.
Elahi said that the last two decades of IT sector has used more than half a million young people in various capacities ranging from software developers, hardware engineers, call center operators and cable managers. He added that a lot of potential to absorb another half million young people away from the serious efforts of government policy makers.
He stressed the government to take measures to strengthen the education, IT training capacity in particular in countries to promote computer literacy and improve the competitiveness of Pakistani products and export. Also a network of IT parks and villages must be created to bring a revolution in the IT field.
