The judicial magistrate, south, on Thursday remanded a suspected activist of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), arrested for possessing illegal weapons, in police custody till January 23.
Chaman Gul Dad was arrested by the CID police late on Wednesday night from the Kutchi Memon Masjid, Kharadar, on a tip-off.
He was produced before the court on Thursday morning under heavy police escort. Assistant Deputy Public Prosecutor Syed Shamim Ahmed sought physical remand of the suspect for further investigations.
The court, however, questioned the need for any further investigations after the recovery of weapons from the suspect. Ahmad informed the court that the investigation officer had sent a fax to the political agent of Bajaur Agency seeking information about his activities as the man was wanted in several other crimes. On this, the court remanded the suspect in police custody for three days.
