Punjab Cup: Match-Fixing in snooker

KARACHI: Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) on Monday expressed shock over match-fixing in Punjab Cup and vowed to take stern steps to punish such acts in future.

Punjab Cup Match-Fixing News“We are shocked to know match-fixing in Punjab Cup involving former nationally ranked player Imran Mughal and Muhammad Umer,” PBSA chief Alamgir Shaikh said.

“We never heard such thing in the past so it was stunning. We would be taking all steps to see that it never happens again,” he said.

Commenting on Punjab Billiards and Snooker Association’s decision, he said initailly they imposed a three-year ban on Imran Mughal and Muhammad Umer but on appeal later curtailed it to one year.

He, however, said that the PBSA would take all steps to curb this match- fixing menace.

He promised harsh punishments if this kind of thing happens again in any event played under their umbrella. – APP
