ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Friday said the passage of the 19th Amendment from both Houses of the Parliament with consensus of all the political parties is yet another feather in the cap of democratic institutions.
He said the policy of mutual consultation and reconciliation has provided a solid base to the future democratic culture of the country, which would pave the way for overall development of the country and help resolve major national issues.The Prime Minister was talking to parliamentarians who called on him at his Parliament House Chamber here this afternoon.The Prime Minister said it was the duty of all public representatives to focus their energies upon the uplift of their respective constituencies.
The parliamentarians briefed the Prime Minister about the status of various ongoing development projects in their respective areas.
They also apprised him about requirements and issues pertaining to these development projects. The parliamentarians also put forth proposals for new projects in their respective areas.
The Prime Minister directed the authorities to examine the proposals in detail and prepare a feasibility report accordingly. He also directed that proposals regarding improvement in the ongoing projects should also be examined in detail, ensuring early completion of projects,
The parliamentarians includes Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Minister for Food and Agriculture Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Reena Kumari Minister of State for Health, MNAs Dr. Nafeesa Shah, Dr. Mehreen Razaq Bhutto, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana and Aftab Shaikh.—APP
