Khurshid Shah RGST to be introduced after consensus

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower and Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah said on Monday that the Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST) bill would not be introduced in the parliament without developing consensus in the house.
RGST to be introduced after consensus: Khurshid Shah Khurshid Shah was replying to reservations made by Leader of the  Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar, who criticized the statement of the United States Ambassador on the implementation of the RGST bill.

He said that the parliament was a forum, which would pass or reject the bill adding that the government would introduce the bill after building consensus.
“The bill will not be presented in the parliament until the opposition agrees,” he said adding that the government wanted to take the house in confidence before introducing the bill.
On the issue of Hajj corruption scandal, Khurshid Shah said that the matter was in the court.
He said that the government had sacked two federal ministers and such an example was witnessed only once during the era of late prime minister Muhammad Khan Junejo. The opposition should appreciate the good decisions of government, he added.
He said that being the current religious minister, he would try his best to make the process for the upcoming Hajj journey transparent and corruption free.
Khurshid Shah assured said that the decisions of the Business Advisory Committee would be implemented adding that the government had already  given details of about 15 bills to be introduced during the ongoing session of the National Assembly. – APP
