KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah called on Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad at the Governor’s House on Thursday to discuss the reformed general sales tax (RGST) and other issues.
An official statement issued after the meeting said they expressed the confidence that steps would be taken in the best interest of the country and the citizens. They also agreed that relations between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would be further strengthened in accordance with the vision of President Asif Ali Zardari and MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
They reviewed the process of maintaining harmony among all coalition partners on the issue.
Discussing the law and order in the province, they expressed satisfaction over peace and tranquility that prevailed during Eidul Azha, and decided to take all possible measures to ensure fool-proof security across the province during upcoming Muharram.
They directed the officials concerned to remain vigilant and keep the intelligence network active.
They also called for further accelerating the process of flood-hit people’s rehabilitation in view of the onset of winter.
They issued directives to ensure availability of blankets and other essential items with the affected families.—Agencies
